Neurology Consultation
Comprehensive neurological evaluations for diagnosis and treatment of all neurological conditions.
When you need a neurological consultation:
- Initial evaluation of neurological symptoms

- Second opinion on diagnosis or treatment plan
- Preventive neurological health counseling
What to expect:
The session includes detailed history taking, complete neurological examination, and discussion of findings and treatment options. Duration: 45-60 minutes.
Electromyography (EMG/NCS)
Diagnostic test assessing nerve and muscle function, useful for diagnosing neuropathy, radiculopathy, and muscle disorders.
When EMG is needed:
- Peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling)
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Radiculopathy (radiating pain)
- Muscle weakness or atrophy
- Neuromuscular disorders
What to expect:
Test involves mild electrical stimulations and insertion of fine needles to record muscle activity. May cause slight discomfort. Duration: 30-60 minutes.
EEG Interpretation & Second Opinion
Interpretation of electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings performed at external laboratories, with the findings integrated into your neurology treatment plan. EEG recording is not performed at the practice — Katerina Saroukou refers you to an accredited centre and interprets the results.
When EEG is needed:
- Epilepsy — evaluation and follow-up
- First seizure
- Unexplained loss of consciousness
- Sleep disorders with a neurological cause
- Second opinion on an existing EEG
What is included:
Referral to a trusted EEG laboratory, expert interpretation of the recording in the context of your clinical history, and a personalised treatment or further-investigation plan.
Stroke Management & Prevention
Care for stroke patients, with experience from a Stroke Unit in Germany.
Services offered:
- Post-stroke follow-up care
- Risk factor assessment
- Prevention strategies and medication management
- Rehabilitation referrals
- TIA (transient ischemic attack) evaluation
What to expect:
Comprehensive neurological status assessment, imaging review, and personalised prevention and treatment plan.
Headache & Migraine Treatment
Specialized diagnosis and treatment of all headache types, including Botox therapy for chronic migraines.
Headache types we treat:
- Migraine (with or without aura)
- Tension-type headache
- Cluster headache
- Chronic daily headache
- Medication overuse headache
Treatment options:
Acute treatment, preventive medications, lifestyle modifications, and Botox therapy for chronic migraines (>15 days/month).
Special Pain Therapy (Germany)
Interdisciplinary care of patients with chronic pain, based on the German Additional Qualification in Special Pain Therapy (Zusatz-Weiterbildung Spezielle Schmerztherapie), awarded by the Ärztekammer Nordrhein (North Rhine Chamber of Physicians).
Pain conditions we treat:
- Neuropathic pain (e.g. post-herpetic neuralgia)
- Chronic musculoskeletal and lower back pain
- Post-stroke and central pain
- Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
- Trigeminal and other cranial neuralgias
- Chronic pain after traumatic brain injury
Approach:
Detailed assessment of the pain and any comorbidities, an individualised medication plan, coordination with physical therapists and psychologists, and ongoing follow-up. The qualification requires 12 months of clinical training plus an 80-hour structured curriculum.
Botox Therapy
Botulinum toxin therapy for neurological conditions, with experience from Germany.
Indications for Botox therapy:
- Chronic migraines (preventive treatment)
- Post-stroke spasticity
- Dystonia and movement disorders
- Blepharospasm
- Hemifacial spasm
What to expect:
Injections performed on outpatient basis. Results appear in 1-2 weeks and last 3-4 months. Session duration: 20-40 minutes. No special preparation required.
Peripheral Nerve Disorders
Diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the peripheral nervous system.
Conditions we treat:
- Peripheral neuropathy (diabetic, alcoholic, other)
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Radiculopathy (cervical, lumbar)
- Peroneal nerve palsy
- Trigeminal neuralgia
Diagnostic tools:
Clinical examination, EMG/NCS, imaging studies. Treatment includes medications, physical therapy, and surgical referrals when needed.
Neurological Rehabilitation Planning
Specialist planning and monitoring of neurological rehabilitation, with experience from German centres.
Conditions requiring rehabilitation:
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury
- Spinal cord injury
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson's disease
Services:
Disability assessment, rehabilitation program planning, coordination with physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, progress monitoring.
Memory & Cognitive Assessment
Comprehensive assessment of cognitive disorders, memory problems, and dementia.
When assessment is needed:
- Memory problems affecting daily life
- Confusion or disorientation
- Personality or behaviour changes
- Family history of dementia
- Concerns about mild cognitive impairment
What's included:
Detailed history, cognitive testing, neurological examination, referral for imaging and laboratory tests if needed. Counseling for management and support.
